Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Asian Studies / Japanese Language and Culture in the Department of World Languages and Cultures (WLC) beginning August 2024.
- Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate courses in the areas of Asian Studies and Japanese Language and Culture.
- The position also requires some departmental service commitments such as organizing co-curricular activities, program recruitment, and limited committee work.
- The current typical teaching load is 4/5 for the year.
- Required Qualifications
- A Master’s or terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.), or the foreign equivalent, in Asian Studies and/or Japanese or a closely related field.
- Documented record of experience in teaching undergraduate level Asian cultural courses and/or Japanese courses in face-to-face and/or hybrid or online environments.
- Native/near-native language proficiency in Japanese and English.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and/or teaching on-line or hybrid courses.
- Experience with developing effective assessment.
- Familiarity with current trends in language and cultural studies pedagogy and related technologies.
- Experience in organizing co-curricular activities, program recruitment and advising student groups.
